23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.
Jesus demonstrates the Kingdom, the Rule of God has truly come. Jesus is not only proclaiming but he is also demonstrating the Kingdom. Jesus is bringing healing and peace to every malady brought to him. The people followed Him; he was popular. Often the popularity wears off when the call to discipleship is sounded.
Let us pray that we follow Christ through every bit of life and not just when he does good things for us.
His love is abounding but it is also binding. We have a work to do and we must be obedient to our Lord and to our King too. When Jesus says to us “Take up your mat” he is also saying “Take up your cross”.
Open His Word and Enjoy!
